Peak power is high relative to torque, so this engine rewards revs: it feels ordinary below the mid-range and comes alive above it.
Chassis hardware includes a rear monoshock, single-channel ABS and a slipper clutch, with a disc, 300 mm, 2 piston caliper up front and disc, 230 mm, 1 piston caliper at the rear.

The Pulsar NS 200 has anchored Bajaj's performance naked lineup since 2012, and its 199.5cc, 24.13bhp liquid-cooled engine still leads its direct rivals on outright power at ₹1.39 lakh onwards. It remains a quick, engaging 200cc option, but more than a decade on the market means some rivals and Bajaj's own newer bikes have caught up on features and efficiency.
Riding it every day
The engine's mid-range punch and claimed 130kmph top speed make it feel genuinely quick for the price, and the 6-speed gearbox suits sustained highway cruising well. At 158kg it handles city traffic capably, though the 805mm seat height is on the taller side for shorter riders. Real-world mileage of 33-37kmpl is on the lower end for this class, so expect more frequent fuel stops than on the Apache RTR 200 4V or Pulsar 220F.
What to know before buying
The base variant's single-channel ABS is worth cross-checking against the dual-channel, USD-fork variant, which costs more but adds real braking and handling confidence. Against Bajaj's own Pulsar N250, the NS 200 gives up traction control and USD forks as standard, so the choice often comes down to whether you value the NS 200's proven reputation over the N250's newer equipment list.
