The 450X is sold in 2 variants, from ₹1,40,000 for the 2.9 kWh to ₹1,57,000 for the 3.7 kWh, ex-showroom Delhi. The extra ₹17,000 buys 161 km certified range and fast charging support.

That makes it priced 16th lowest among the 23 electric scooters we have reviewed. Its closest price rivals are the Roadster X Plus (₹5,001 less) and the 450S (₹9,690 less).

On the road in Delhi, budget about ₹1.47 Lakh for the base variant once registration and five-year insurance are added (Delhi waives road tax on electric two-wheelers). Dealers often quote higher by bundling accessories, extended warranty and handling charges; all three are negotiable.

450X's certified IDC range is 161 km. Owners and our own riding put the real figure between 125 and 150 km, roughly 15% under the brochure number, which is normal for an electric scooter ridden in its faster modes.

Among the 23 electric scooters we have reviewed it ranks 7th for range, 14 km above the group average of 147 km.

The 450X's 6.4 kW motor is the 11rd most powerful among the 21 electric scooters here and takes it to a top speed of 90 km/h, comfortable for city and arterial roads.

A full charge from a home socket takes about 5.5 hours, and it supports fast charging for a quicker top-up on the road. The battery is fixed, so you need a plug where the scooter parks.

Seat height is a low 780 mm, so riders around 5'2" and above can plant both feet at a stop.

On safety kit the 450X has front disc brake and rear disc brake.

Against S1 Pro (Gen 3) or Chetak 35 Series, it gets rear disc brake that most rivals skip.

What it lacks: reverse mode, combi-brake (cbs), led headlamp and tubeless tyres, which rivals at this price offer. The safety items in that list matter more than the console.

It is offered in 5 colours: Space Grey, Mint Green, Still White, True Red and Cosmic Black. Colour availability varies by variant and dealer stock.

Standard warranty is 3 years or 30,000 km. The battery is covered separately for 3 years or 30,000 km; read the degradation clause, since most policies only replace a pack that drops below 70% capacity. After the free services, the recommended interval is every 10,000 km.

Ather Energy runs a limited sales and service network in India, at roughly 300 touchpoints. Check the nearest workshop before buying if you live outside a metro; a 40 km ride for every service adds up.

On sale since 2020, the 450X is established enough that early production issues have been worked through and used examples give a fair read on resale.
