In short

The 1390 Super Duke R is KTM's flagship hyper-naked, a fully imported 1350cc twin making 187.7bhp, priced from ₹22,95,800. It delivers genuine superbike performance for a handful of enthusiasts, but as a CBU import it carries a steep price with efficiency and running costs to match.

Price and variants

Ex-showroom Delhi. On-road estimate for Delhi; other cities on the price page.

There is only one 1390 Super Duke R to buy, priced at ₹22,95,800 ex-showroom in Delhi. The only decisions left are colour and whether to finance it.

That makes it priced 74th lowest among the 75 sports bikes we have reviewed. Its closest price rivals are the Hayabusa (₹4,88,915 less) and the 890 Duke R (₹8,45,800 less).

On the road in Delhi, budget about ₹25.37 Lakh for the base variant once 8% Delhi road tax, registration and five-year third-party insurance are added. Dealers often quote higher by bundling accessories, extended warranty and handling charges; all three are negotiable.

Mileage

1390 Super Duke R's claimed mileage is 16.9 kmpl, and unusually, owners and our own riding land right on it: expect 17–24 kmpl in everyday use. Few bikes get this close to their brochure figure.

Among the 67 sports bikes we have reviewed it ranks last for mileage, 25 kmpl below the group average of 42 kmpl.

Engine and ride

Power comes from a 1350cc single producing 187.7 bhp and 145 Nm, paired with a 6 Speed. At 210 kg the power-to-weight figure is 894 bhp per tonne, which ranks 2 of 73 in its class here.

Peak power is high relative to torque, so this engine rewards revs: it feels ordinary below the mid-range and comes alive above it.

Chassis hardware includes USD front forks, dual-channel ABS, a slipper clutch and traction control, with a disc, 320 mm, 4 piston caliper up front and disc, 240 mm, 2 piston caliper at the rear.

The 834 mm seat is on the tall side. Riders under 5'6" should sit on one before buying.

Verdict

The 1390 Super Duke R is KTM's top-of-range naked, a fully imported 1350cc twin making 187.7bhp, priced from ₹22,95,800. It is less a practical purchase than a statement of intent, built for riders who want the fastest naked KTM sells in India.

Riding it every day

At 210kg with 187.7bhp on tap, the performance on offer is far beyond what Indian roads and traffic typically allow you to use, and the WP APEX semi-active suspension does a genuinely good job of smoothing out speed breakers and broken tarmac given how track-focused the chassis otherwise is. The riding position is committed rather than relaxed, so expect wrist and back fatigue in stop-go city traffic, and the seat height and reach favour taller riders.

What to know before buying

As a CBU import, it carries a steep ₹22,95,800 starting price with mileage to match, claimed at 16.9kmpl and typically running 17-24kmpl depending on how it is ridden. Servicing and parts availability lean on KTM's larger dealerships rather than every town, so factor in longer waits and higher costs than KTM's mainstream 390 range. This is a bike bought for what it is, not for cost of ownership.

Who should buy it

Experienced riders who already know they want flagship performance, and can absorb the import price and running costs that come with it, are the realistic audience; everyone else is better served by KTM's 390 or 890 range.

On safety kit the 1390 Super Duke R has dual-channel abs, front disc brake, rear disc brake, tubeless tyres, traction control, side-stand engine cut-off and hazard lamps. Dual-channel ABS is the one item on this list worth paying for if it is variant-dependent.

What it lacks: rear monoshock, which rivals at this price offer. None of these are deal-breakers, but they show where the money went.

It is offered in 1 colours: Orange. Colour availability varies by variant and dealer stock.

Warranty, service and ownership

Standard warranty is 2 years or 50,000 km.

Service reach is the weak point: KTM has about 500 dealer and workshop touchpoints across the country. Confirm there is one within reach before you sign.

The 1390 Super Duke R launched in 2024, so long-term reliability and resale data are still thin. That is not a mark against it, just a reason to prefer the standard warranty and keep service records.
