KTM 250 Adventure mileage and running cost
Claimed mileage 31 kmpl, real-world 29–32 kmpl. What it costs per km, per month and over five years.
Claimed vs real mileage
250 Adventure's claimed mileage is 31 kmpl, and unusually, owners and our own riding land right on it: expect 29–32 kmpl in everyday use. Few bikes get this close to their brochure figure.
Among the 12 adventure bikes we have reviewed it ranks 5th for mileage, 3 kmpl above the group average of 28 kmpl.
At Delhi's petrol price of ₹94.80 a litre and a real-world 30.5 kmpl, the 250 Adventure costs about ₹3.11 per km in fuel. Ride 30 km a day and that is roughly ₹2,424 a month, or ₹29,093 a year, before servicing.
The 14.5-litre tank gives a realistic range of about 442 km, so a 30 km commute means a fill-up every 2 weeks.
Why the gap exists: claimed vs real-world mileage.
Monthly running cost by city
30 km a day, 26 days a month, at each city's current petrol price.
Five-year cost of ownership
Base variant bought in Delhi, 30 km a day. Servicing and insurance renewals are typical figures for the class.
- On-road purchase
- ₹2,85,900
- Fuel
- ₹1,45,465
- Servicing
- ₹35,000
- Insurance renewals
- ₹13,724
- Five-year total
- ₹4,80,089
Spread over five years and 46,800 km, the 250 Adventure works out to about ₹10.3 per km all-in, of which 30% is fuel and 60% is the purchase price itself. Resale value is not counted; expect roughly 50–60% of ex-showroom after five years for a well-kept example.
Getting the best mileage
The quickest wins for the 250 Adventure: keep tyres at the recommended pressure (under-inflation by 5 psi can cost 2–3 kmpl), shift up early and avoid idling at long signals.
Short trips hurt most. A cold engine on a 2 km run can return half its normal mileage; if that is your use, expect the low end of the real-world band.
Service on time. A clogged air filter or old spark plug shows up in mileage before it shows up anywhere else.
