Engine and ride
Power comes from a 249cc single producing 26.1 bhp and 22.2 Nm, paired with a 6 Speed. At 167 kg the power-to-weight figure is 156 bhp per tonne, which ranks 11 of 14 in its class here.
The torque and power figures are well balanced, so it neither needs to be revved hard nor feels lazy when you do.
Chassis hardware includes dual-channel ABS, with a disc, 300 mm, 2 piston caliper up front and disc, 220 mm, 1 piston caliper at the rear.
The 835 mm seat is on the tall side. Riders under 5'6" should sit on one before buying.

Verdict
The V-Strom SX takes Suzuki's familiar 249cc Gixxer engine, gives it an adventure-styled body with a bigger tank and taller stance, and prices the result at ₹2,03,354. It looks the part of a proper ADV, but the mechanicals underneath are closer to a comfortable road bike than a genuine off-roader.
Riding it every day
The 26.1bhp engine and 22.2Nm of torque feel familiar from the Gixxer 250, smooth and usable through the 6-speed gearbox, and real-world mileage of 34-36kmpl is genuinely strong for this class. The 205mm ground clearance and slightly taller suspension travel handle potholes and broken city roads with more composure than a standard naked bike, and the dual-channel ABS with disc brakes at both ends brakes confidently in traffic. At 167kg it strikes a reasonable balance between stability and manageability at low speed.
What to know before buying
This is not a hardcore off-roader; the telescopic forks, street-biased tyres and lack of traction control mean it is best treated as a comfortable, upright commuter with occasional gravel-road ability rather than a trail machine. The TVS Apache RTX 300, priced lower at ₹1,99,000, offers considerably more power for less money, which is worth a test ride before committing to the Suzuki. The 835mm seat height is also tall enough that shorter riders should sit on one first.
Who should buy it
The V-Strom SX suits riders who want an upright, comfortable riding position for mixed city and highway use, with occasional broken-road or light gravel capability, more than genuine off-road performance. Riders chasing outright power for the price should ride the Apache RTX 300 before deciding.
