Engine and ride
The 349cc liquid-cooled engine makes 40.93 bhp and 33.5 Nm through a 6 Speed. With a kerb weight of 181 kg that is 226 bhp per tonne, 7th best power-to-weight of the 14 bikes in this class we have reviewed.
Peak power is high relative to torque, so this engine rewards revs: it feels ordinary below the mid-range and comes alive above it.
Chassis hardware includes USD front forks, a rear monoshock, single-channel ABS, a slipper clutch and traction control, with a disc, 320 mm up front and disc, 240 mm at the rear.
The 825 mm seat is on the tall side. Riders under 5'6" should sit on one before buying.

Verdict
The 390 Adventure is KTM's touring-oriented middleweight, wrapping a familiar 349cc, 40.93bhp engine in a taller, more comfortable body than the Duke line, starting at ₹2,87,986. It prioritises long-distance comfort over the outright off-road focus of the Adventure R.
Riding it every day
The 825mm seat height and relaxed bar position make it easy to live with in daily traffic, and 228mm of ground clearance shrugs off speed breakers and potholes that would rattle a lower naked bike. At 181kg it stays manageable at low speeds and in parking lots, while the 40.93bhp engine has enough mid-range to overtake trucks on the highway without much drama. The colour TFT dash and turn-by-turn navigation are genuinely useful on longer, unfamiliar routes.
What to know before buying
Real-world mileage typically runs 26-29kmpl, noticeably behind the smaller 250 Adventure, so budget for higher fuel costs on long tours. The single-channel ABS is a step down from the 250 Adventure's dual-channel system, worth noting if you ride in the rain often. Service intervals and KTM's spread of service centres across smaller towns are worth confirming on your specific touring routes before committing.
Who should buy it
Riders planning long highway tours or two-up travel who want KTM performance without the harsher edge of the Adventure R will find this the more livable choice, provided the running costs of a bigger engine are acceptable.
