390 Adventure X's claimed mileage is 28 kmpl, and unusually, owners and our own riding land right on it: expect 26–29 kmpl in everyday use. Few bikes get this close to their brochure figure.

Engine and ride
Power comes from a 399cc single producing 45.3 bhp and 39 Nm, paired with a 6 Speed. At 181 kg the power-to-weight figure is 250 bhp per tonne, which ranks 10 of 73 in its class here.
The torque and power figures are well balanced, so it neither needs to be revved hard nor feels lazy when you do.
Chassis hardware includes USD front forks, a rear monoshock, single-channel ABS, a slipper clutch and traction control, with a disc, 320 mm, 2 piston caliper up front and disc, 240 mm, 1 piston caliper at the rear.

Riding it every day
At 181kg with 45.3bhp, the Adventure X pulls confidently on the highway and stays manageable in city traffic, while 228mm of ground clearance absorbs speed breakers and potholes without drama. Cruise control, genuinely useful on long, straight highway stretches, is a rare inclusion at this price and noticeably reduces fatigue on longer rides. The WP APEX suspension keeps things composed on patchy roads, if not quite as sophisticated as the Adventure S's setup.
What to know before buying
Real-world mileage typically runs 26-29kmpl, in line with KTM's other 390cc bikes rather than a standout figure, so plan fuel costs accordingly for touring distances. Single-channel ABS is shared with the Adventure S, so that is not a point of difference, but the X does without some of the S's finer chassis tuning for off-road use. KTM's service network coverage on your specific touring routes is worth checking before long trips.
Who should buy it
Riders wanting 390 Adventure S-level performance and cruise control without paying the full S premium will find the Adventure X the more sensible buy in KTM's touring range.
