Kawasaki KLX230

There is only one KLX230 to buy, priced at ₹2,19,000 ex-showroom in Delhi. The only decisions left are colour and whether to finance it.

That makes it priced 58th lowest among the 137 sports bikes we have reviewed. Its closest price rivals are the Scram 440 (₹5,373 more) and the Apache RTR 310 (₹6,283 more).

On the road in Delhi the base KLX230 comes to ₹2.51 Lakh: ₹2,19,000 ex-showroom, ₹19,020 in Delhi road tax and registration (8.7%), ₹12,517 for first-year insurance. Dealers add handling and accessory packs on top; both are negotiable.

KLX230's claimed mileage is 36 kmpl, and unusually, owners and our own riding land right on it: expect 33–37 kmpl in everyday use. Few bikes get this close to their brochure figure.

Among the 114 sports bikes we have reviewed it ranks 42th for mileage, 3 kmpl above the group average of 33 kmpl.

Power comes from a 233cc single producing 18.37 bhp and 19 Nm, paired with a 6 Speed. At 139 kg the power-to-weight figure is 132 bhp per tonne, which ranks 94 of 135 in its class here.

The torque and power figures are well balanced, so it neither needs to be revved hard nor feels lazy when you do.

Chassis hardware includes single-channel ABS, with a disc, 290 mm, 2 piston caliper up front and disc, 230 mm, 1 piston caliper at the rear.

The 880 mm seat is on the tall side. Riders under 5'6" should sit on one before buying.

On safety kit the KLX230 has single-channel abs, front disc brake, rear disc brake, side-stand engine cut-off and hazard lamps. ABS acts on the front wheel only; the rear can still lock under a hard stamp.

What it lacks: rear monoshock, slipper clutch, ride modes and usb charging port, which rivals at this price offer. None of these are deal-breakers, but they show where the money went.

It is offered in 2 colours: Lime Green and Battle Gray. Colour availability varies by variant and dealer stock.

Standard warranty is 2 years, unlimited km.

Service reach is the weak point: Kawasaki has about 60 dealer and workshop touchpoints across the country. Confirm there is one within reach before you sign.

The KLX230 launched in 2026, so long-term reliability and resale data are still thin. That is not a mark against it, just a reason to prefer the standard warranty and keep service records.
