The Gixxer has been a familiar name in Suzuki's lineup since 2019, and it still offers a well-rounded, safely-braked 155cc naked bike from ₹1,29,449. What it does not offer, next to nearly every rival at the same price, is competitive horsepower.
Riding it every day
The 155cc engine makes 13.41bhp and 13.8Nm, numbers that were reasonable a few years ago but now trail rivals like the Pulsar NS160 and Apache RTR 180 by 3-5bhp at a similar price. In daily traffic that gap is not dramatic, the bike pulls cleanly through gears and the 5-speed gearbox is smooth, but overtaking on the highway needs more planning than on a punchier rival. Real-world mileage of 42-47kmpl is a genuine strength, and the front and rear disc brakes with single-channel ABS give confident stopping in city traffic and light rain.
What to know before buying
At 141kg the Gixxer is not light for its power output, which blunts acceleration further, and Suzuki has not fitted a monoshock rear end here, unlike the pricier Gixxer 250. Buyers cross-shopping the Pulsar NS160 or Apache RTR 180 will notice the power gap quickly on a back-to-back test ride, so it is worth doing before committing.
