That makes it priced 41th lowest among the 53 cruisers we have reviewed. Its closest price rivals are the Super Scout (₹17,099 more) and the Sportster S (₹96,145 more).

On the road in Delhi the base 101 Scout comes to ₹19.27 Lakh: ₹17,08,855 ex-showroom, ₹1,48,708 in Delhi road tax and registration (8.7%), ₹51,862 for first-year insurance and ₹17,088 in tcs 1%. Dealers add handling and accessory packs on top; both are negotiable.

The 1250cc liquid-cooled engine makes 112.54 bhp and 109 Nm through a Manual. With a kerb weight of 249 kg that is 452 bhp per tonne, third best power-to-weight of the 51 bikes in this class we have reviewed.

The torque and power figures are well balanced, so it neither needs to be revved hard nor feels lazy when you do.

Chassis hardware includes USD front forks, dual-channel ABS and traction control, with a disc, 320 mm, 4 piston caliper up front and disc, 298 mm, 1 piston caliper at the rear.

Seat height is a low 680 mm, so riders around 5'2" and above can plant both feet at a stop.

On safety kit the 101 Scout has dual-channel abs, front disc brake, rear disc brake, tubeless tyres, traction control and side-stand engine cut-off. Dual-channel ABS is the one item on this list worth paying for if it is variant-dependent.

Against Sportster S, Super Scout or Street Bob, it gets alloy wheels and usd front forks that most rivals skip.

What it lacks: hazard lamps, rear monoshock, led daytime running lamp and ride modes, which rivals at this price offer. The safety items in that list matter more than the console.
