Certified vs real range

Expect 109–125 km from the RV400 in everyday use against a certified IDC range of 150 km. The 22% gap is about average for the class.

Among the 21 electric bikes we have reviewed it ranks 15th for range, 21 km below the group average of 171 km.

Charging at home in Delhi at about ₹7.5/unit, a 3.24 kWh pack costs roughly ₹27 to fill and works out to about ₹0.23 per km. Riding 30 km a day, that is around ₹178 a month, a fraction of what a petrol scooter costs to run.

Why the gap exists: electric scooter range explained.

Spread over five years and 46,800 km, the RV400 works out to about ₹3.4 per km all-in, of which 7% is electricity and 83% is the purchase price itself. Resale value is not counted; expect roughly 50–60% of ex-showroom after five years for a well-kept example.

Getting the most range

On the RV400, treat the mode selector as a range dial: the top mode trades roughly a third of the range for speed, and sustained runs above 60 km/h are where the pack empties fastest.

Regenerative braking helps most in stop-start traffic, so leave it on its strongest setting for the commute; it earns back a few kilometres a day and saves the brake pads.

Because the battery is removable, charge it indoors at room temperature where you can. A pack that sits in the sun or a cold stairwell loses a little range before you set off.

Cold mornings, a heavy pillion and under-inflated tyres each trim the figure. Plan around the low end of the 109–125 km band in winter and when riding two-up.

Charging works out to about ₹0.23 per km in Delhi, so a 30 km daily commute costs roughly ₹178 a month before servicing.
How long does the RV400 take to charge?
About 4.5 hours for a full charge from a home socket.
Why does the RV400's real-world range fall so far below its claimed 150 km?
