Riding it every day
The six-cylinder motor is astonishingly smooth, with power available everywhere in the rev range, so overtaking on highways needs barely a downshift. The 344kg kerb weight disappears once rolling but reappears at traffic lights and tight U-turns, where the bike needs deliberate, confident inputs. The TFT dash, turn-by-turn navigation, and ride modes make long trips genuinely relaxed, and the 26.5-litre tank means fewer fuel stops than most tourers, even with 17kmpl real-world consumption.
What to know before buying
As a current model, it carries BMW's standard warranty and access to authorised service, but parts for the six-cylinder engine and electronics are imported, so routine servicing costs considerably more than for any mainstream tourer.
