BMW Motorrad F 450 GS

The F 450 GS is sold in 3 variants, from ₹4,70,000 for the Standard to ₹5,30,000 for the GS Trophy, ex-showroom Delhi.

That makes it priced 12th lowest among the 29 adventure bikes we have reviewed. Its closest price rivals are the 390 Adventure S (₹64,989 less) and the Versys-X 300 (₹1,21,000 less).

On the road in Delhi the base F 450 GS comes to ₹5.35 Lakh: ₹4,70,000 ex-showroom, ₹39,100 in Delhi road tax and registration (8.3%), ₹25,767 for first-year insurance. Dealers add handling and accessory packs on top; both are negotiable.

F 450 GS's claimed mileage is 26 kmpl. Owners and our own riding put the real figure between 22 and 24 kmpl, roughly 12% under the brochure number, which is typical once traffic, a pillion and short trips are factored in.

Among the 24 adventure bikes we have reviewed it ranks 11th for mileage, right on the group average of 26 kmpl.

The 420cc liquid-cooled engine makes 48.67 bhp and 43 Nm through a 6 Speed. With a kerb weight of 178 kg that is 273 bhp per tonne, 15th best power-to-weight of the 29 bikes in this class we have reviewed.

The torque and power figures are well balanced, so it neither needs to be revved hard nor feels lazy when you do.

Chassis hardware includes USD front forks, dual-channel ABS and traction control, with a disc, 310 mm, 4 piston caliper up front and disc, 240 mm, 1 piston caliper at the rear.

The 845 mm seat is on the tall side. Riders under 5'6" should sit on one before buying.

On safety kit the F 450 GS has dual-channel abs, front disc brake, rear disc brake, tubeless tyres, traction control, side-stand engine cut-off and hazard lamps. Dual-channel ABS is the one item on this list worth paying for if it is variant-dependent.

Against 390 Adventure S, NX500 or Himalayan 450, it gets dual-channel abs and alloy wheels that most rivals skip.

What it lacks: single-channel abs, rear monoshock, slipper clutch and led headlamp, which rivals at this price offer. The safety items in that list matter more than the console.

It is offered in 3 colours: Cosmic Black - Standard, Racing Blue Metallic and Cosmic Black - Exclusive. Colour availability varies by variant and dealer stock.

Standard warranty is 2 years, unlimited km.

The F 450 GS launched in 2026, so long-term reliability and resale data are still thin. That is not a mark against it, just a reason to prefer the standard warranty and keep service records.
