OPG Mobility Freedum range and running cost

The Freedum is rated at 75 km (certified IDC range). Treat that as a ceiling: real-world figures are usually 15–25% lower.

Among the 88 electric scooters we have reviewed it ranks 77th for range, 47 km below the group average of 122 km.

Charging at home in Delhi at about ₹7.5/unit, a 1.4 kWh pack costs roughly ₹12 to fill and works out to about ₹0.15 per km. Riding 30 km a day, that is around ₹120 a month, a fraction of what a petrol scooter costs to run.

Spread over five years and 46,800 km, the Freedum works out to about ₹1.7 per km all-in, of which 9% is electricity and 75% is the purchase price itself. Resale value is not counted; expect roughly 50–60% of ex-showroom after five years for a well-kept example.

On the Freedum, treat the mode selector as a range dial: the top mode trades roughly a third of the range for speed, and sustained runs above 60 km/h are where the pack empties fastest.

Because the battery is removable, charge it indoors at room temperature where you can. A pack that sits in the sun or a cold stairwell loses a little range before you set off.
