Price and variants
Ex-showroom Delhi. On-road estimate for Delhi; other cities on the price page.
The S1 Z is sold in 2 variants, from ₹79,999 for the 3.1 kWh to ₹99,999 for the 5.1 kWh, ex-showroom Delhi.
That makes it the cheapest of the 23 electric scooters we have reviewed. Its closest price rivals are the S1 X (₹10,000 more) and the QC1 (₹10,709 more).
On the road in Delhi, budget about ₹85,800 for the base variant once registration and five-year insurance are added (Delhi waives road tax on electric two-wheelers). Dealers often quote higher by bundling accessories, extended warranty and handling charges; all three are negotiable.
| Variant | Ex-showroom | Rough EMI |
|---|---|---|
3.1 kWh | ₹79,999 | |
5.1 kWh | ₹99,999 |
Range and charging
The S1 Z is rated at 179 km (certified IDC range). Treat that as a ceiling: real-world figures are usually 15–25% lower.
Among the 23 electric scooters we have reviewed it ranks 4th for range, 32 km above the group average of 147 km.
Motor and ride
The S1 Z's 4 kW motor is the 17rd most powerful among the 21 electric scooters here and takes it to a top speed of 70 km/h, which limits it to city use.
Chassis hardware includes a rear monoshock and a combi-brake system.
At 791 mm the seat is average for the class; most riders from 5'5" up will be comfortable at stops.

Verdict
The S1 Z is Ola Electric's answer to buyers who want an EV badge without an EV budget. At ₹79,999 it undercuts most of its own showroom, and the 3.1 kWh pack promises a workable 179km on paper. It is not trying to be exciting: the 70kmph top speed and a features list stripped to the essentials say this is a scooter built to a price, not a spec sheet.
Riding it every day
In typical Indian traffic a 70kmph top speed rarely feels limiting, most city rides top out lower anyway. What you will notice is the 123.2kg kerb weight working against the modest motor output; overtaking on a slight incline or with a pillion needs patience. The 12-inch wheels and telescopic front end soak up small breakers reasonably, though monsoon potholes test the softer setup more than a stiffer one would.
What to know before buying
Ola has not published independent real-world range figures for the S1 Z in the data reviewed here, so treat the 179km claim as a lab number until owners report otherwise. The absence of a TFT display, keyless start, or hill hold compared with the S1 X and Ather rivals is the trade-off for the lower price. Battery warranty terms were also thinner in the documentation than on Ola's other scooters, worth confirming at the dealership before signing.
Who should buy it
Anyone buying their first two-wheeler, or a second household vehicle for school runs and market trips, fits the S1 Z's brief. Riders who regularly do longer commutes, carry a pillion daily, or want a proper TFT and connected features should look at the S1 X or a 450-series Ather instead.
Features and colours
- Combi-brake (CBS)
- Rear monoshock
- LED tail lamp
- Turn-by-turn navigation
- Ride modes
- Under-seat storage
- Cruise control
- Over-the-air updates
On safety kit the S1 Z has combi-brake (cbs). There is no ABS, which is legal at this engine size but worth knowing before a wet-weather ride.
Against S1 X, Ray ZR 125 or Destini 125, it gets combi-brake (cbs), rear monoshock, turn-by-turn navigation and ride modes that most rivals skip.
What it lacks: side-stand engine cut-off, hazard lamps, led headlamp and led daytime running lamp, which rivals at this price offer. The safety items in that list matter more than the console.
It is offered in 4 colours: White, Anthracite, Sky Splash Blue and Matcha Green. Colour availability varies by variant and dealer stock.
Warranty, service and ownership
Standard warranty is 3 years, unlimited km.
Ola Electric runs a sizeable sales and service network in India, at roughly 4,000 touchpoints. Spares and a mechanic who knows the model are rarely far away.
The S1 Z launched in 2026, so long-term reliability and resale data are still thin. That is not a mark against it, just a reason to prefer the standard warranty and keep service records.
S1 Z: questions people ask
- What is the price of the Ola Electric S1 Z?
- The S1 Z costs between ₹79,999 and ₹99,999 ex-showroom Delhi across 2 variants, as of September 2026. On-road price adds road tax, registration and insurance and varies by state.
- What is the on-road price of the S1 Z in Delhi?
- Roughly ₹85,800 for the base variant in Delhi: ₹79,999 ex-showroom plus no road tax (electric two-wheelers are exempt in Delhi), ₹1,100 registration and about ₹4,713 insurance. This is an estimate; dealer quotes include handling and accessories.
- What is the real range of the S1 Z?
- The certified range is 179 km. Expect 65–75% of that in everyday riding.
- How much does the S1 Z cost to run per month?
- Charging works out to about ₹0.14 per km in Delhi, so a 30 km daily commute costs roughly ₹111 a month before servicing.
- What is the EMI for the S1 Z?
- With 10% down, a 36-month loan at 9.5% on the base variant comes to about ₹2,540 a month. A shorter tenure raises the EMI but cuts total interest; see the EMI calculator on the price page.
- Is the S1 Z suitable for short riders?
- Mostly. Seat height is 791 mm, which suits riders from about 5'5". Shorter riders should sit on one at the showroom.
- S1 Z or S1 X: which is better?
- The S1 X is ₹10,000 more expensive to start and less efficient at 108 km against 179 km. Pick the S1 Z for first scooter, the S1 X for daily office commute. Our side-by-side comparison covers every spec.
- Is the S1 Z fast enough for highway stretches?
- No, its 70kmph top speed keeps it strictly to city and inner-suburb roads; expect to feel out of place on any flyover or highway merge.
- Can the S1 Z carry a pillion comfortably?
- It should manage a light pillion for short trips given the 123.2kg kerb weight, but with only a 4kW motor, expect noticeably slower acceleration two-up.
