That makes it priced 17th lowest among the 53 cruisers we have reviewed. Its closest price rivals are the Interceptor 650 (₹685 more) and the SRV 300 (₹8,224 less).

On the road in Delhi the base Gold Star 650 comes to ₹3.9 Lakh: ₹3,34,950 ex-showroom, ₹28,296 in Delhi road tax and registration (8.4%), ₹26,566 for first-year insurance. Dealers add handling and accessory packs on top; both are negotiable.

Gold Star 650's claimed mileage is 25 kmpl, and unusually, owners and our own riding land right on it: expect 23–26 kmpl in everyday use. Few bikes get this close to their brochure figure.

Among the 40 cruisers we have reviewed it ranks 18th for mileage, right on the group average of 25 kmpl.

The 652cc liquid-cooled engine makes 45.6 bhp and 55 Nm through a 5 Speed. With a kerb weight of 201 kg that is 227 bhp per tonne, 30th best power-to-weight of the 51 bikes in this class we have reviewed.

Torque is high relative to peak power, which is what you want for pulling away with a pillion and riding a gear higher in traffic rather than chasing the redline.

Chassis hardware includes dual-channel ABS, with a disc, 320 mm, 2 piston caliper up front and disc, 255 mm, 1 piston caliper at the rear.

Seat height is a low 782 mm, so riders around 5'2" and above can plant both feet at a stop.

On safety kit the Gold Star 650 has dual-channel abs, front disc brake, rear disc brake, tubeless tyres, side-stand engine cut-off and hazard lamps. Dual-channel ABS is the one item on this list worth paying for if it is variant-dependent.

Against Interceptor 650, Classic 650 or Shotgun 650, it gets tubeless tyres that most rivals skip.

What it lacks: slipper clutch, digital console, led headlamp and bluetooth connectivity, which rivals at this price offer. None of these are deal-breakers, but they show where the money went.

It is offered in 4 colours: Highland Green, Shadow Black, Silver Sheen and Insignia Red. Colour availability varies by variant and dealer stock.

BSA runs a limited sales and service network in India, at roughly 400 touchpoints. Check the nearest workshop before buying if you live outside a metro; a 40 km ride for every service adds up.

The Gold Star 650 launched in 2024, so long-term reliability and resale data are still thin. That is not a mark against it, just a reason to prefer the standard warranty and keep service records.
