Mileage
SR 125's claimed mileage is 39.5 kmpl, and unusually, owners and our own riding land right on it: expect 37–41 kmpl in everyday use. Few bikes get this close to their brochure figure.
Engine and ride
Power comes from a 124cc single producing 9.97 bhp and 10.33 Nm, paired with a CVT automatic. At 118 kg the power-to-weight figure is 84 bhp per tonne, which ranks 9 of 36 in its class here.
The torque and power figures are well balanced, so it neither needs to be revved hard nor feels lazy when you do.
Chassis hardware includes a combi-brake system, with a disc, 220 mm, 2 piston caliper up front and drum, 140 mm at the rear.
Seat height is a low 780 mm, so riders around 5'2" and above can plant both feet at a stop.

Riding impressions and the buying advice a spec sheet cannot give.
Verdict
The SR 125 is a sensible first scooter that leans on styling and equipment rather than outright performance to stand out. At ₹1.13 lakh onwards it undercuts several 125cc rivals while still offering CBS, a digital console and USB charging, and its real-world mileage of 37-41kmpl is genuinely useful for daily riders watching fuel costs.
Riding it every day
The 124.45cc engine is unhurried rather than quick, with 9.97bhp that is enough for city commuting but leaves it behind rivals like the Ntorq when you need a burst of acceleration to beat traffic. The CVT is smooth, and the 780mm seat height combined with a 118kg kerb weight makes it easy to manage at low speed and in tight parking. Monsoon riding should be fine given the tubeless tyres and disc front brake, though the rear drum means wet-weather braking needs a bit more distance than a rival with a rear disc.
What to know before buying
Aprilia's service network is smaller than Honda's or TVS's, so check the nearest authorised centre before buying if you live outside a major city. The 3,000km service interval is shorter than some rivals, which adds up over ownership. The 5-year, 60,000km warranty is a genuine strength and worth factoring into the total cost of ownership.
Who should buy it
This is a strong pick for a first-time buyer or someone wanting a well-equipped, fuel-efficient scooter without paying a premium. Riders who prioritise outright pace or want a rear disc brake should look at the SR 160 or a segment rival like the Ntorq instead.
Features
- Combi-brake (CBS)
- Front disc brake
- Tubeless tyres
- Alloy wheels
- Hazard lamps
- LED headlamp
- LED tail lamp
- Digital console
- USB charging port
- Under-seat storage
On safety kit the SR 125 has combi-brake (cbs), front disc brake, tubeless tyres and hazard lamps. There is no ABS, which is legal at this engine size but worth knowing before a wet-weather ride.
Equipment is closely matched with Storm 125, Burgman Street EX or SR 160; the differences are in the riding, not the spec sheet.
It is offered in 8 colours: White, Red, Grey, Blue, Glossy Red + Matt Black, Glossy Mazda Grey + Matt Black, Matt Black and Matte Green. Colour availability varies by variant and dealer stock.
Warranty, service and ownership
Standard warranty is 5 years or 60,000 km. After the free services, the recommended interval is every 3,000 km.
Service reach is the weak point: Aprilia has about 150 dealer and workshop touchpoints across the country. Confirm there is one within reach before you sign.
On sale since 2018, the SR 125 is established enough that early production issues have been worked through and used examples give a fair read on resale.

- Can the SR 125 handle a daily two-up commute?
- Yes for typical city distances, though the 9.97bhp motor and 124cc engine mean acceleration with a pillion feels noticeably softer, especially pulling away from signals. It is not built for sustained highway two-up riding.
