Torque is high relative to peak power, which is what you want for pulling away with a pillion and riding a gear higher in traffic rather than chasing the redline.

Verdict
The Destini 125 is Hero's answer to buyers who want a 125cc automatic without paying for extras they will not use. At a shade over ₹81,700 to start, it undercuts several established rivals while claiming 59kmpl, a genuinely strong number for the class. The trade-off is obvious the moment you look at the brakes: drum units front and rear on every trim, including the ₹91,768 ZX+.
Riding it every day
The 124.6cc engine's 9bhp and 10.4Nm are enough to keep up with city traffic and hold a steady 60-70kmph cruise without feeling stressed. At 115kg it is easy to filter through Indian traffic and park in tight spots. Under-seat storage and a USB port are welcome for daily use, and the 770mm seat height keeps it approachable for shorter riders. Expect real-world mileage in the 48-54kmpl band rather than the claimed 59kmpl, still respectable for the segment.
What to know before buying
The biggest compromise here is stopping power. Drum brakes on both wheels mean longer stopping distances than rivals with a front disc, and there is no way to step up to one even on the top trim. The 162mm ground clearance also means monsoon potholes and tall speed breakers need a slower approach.
