ZX 125's claimed mileage is 45 kmpl, and unusually, owners and our own riding land right on it: expect 42–47 kmpl in everyday use. Few bikes get this close to their brochure figure.
Engine and ride
The 124cc air-cooled engine makes 9.65 bhp and 10.11 Nm through a CVT automatic. With a kerb weight of 115 kg that is 84 bhp per tonne, 11th best power-to-weight of the 36 scooters in this class we have reviewed.
The torque and power figures are well balanced, so it neither needs to be revved hard nor feels lazy when you do.
Chassis hardware includes a combi-brake system, with a disc, 200 mm, 1 piston caliper up front and drum, 140 mm at the rear.
Seat height is a low 770 mm, so riders around 5'2" and above can plant both feet at a stop.

Verdict
The Vespa ZX 125 has quietly been the best-equipped small scooter in the brand's Indian range since 2019, with combi-brake, hazard lamps, under-seat storage and, most notably, a 5-year, 60,000km warranty that few petrol scooters at any price can match. At ₹1.19 lakh for its only Premium variant, it asks a real premium over mainstream 125cc rivals, and buyers need to decide if the warranty and equipment justify that.
Riding it every day
The 9.65bhp engine is adequate rather than quick, well suited to stop-start traffic and short commutes rather than aggressive overtakes. Claimed mileage of 45kmpl held up in real-world testing at 42-47kmpl, a genuinely efficient figure. The front disc and combi-brake give confident stops in city traffic and monsoon conditions, though the rear drum is a reminder this is not a top-tier braking package.
What to know before buying
A new ZX 125 comes with only one trim, so there is no lower-cost entry point into this model, unlike most of Vespa's other scooters. The 3,000km service interval is tighter than many rivals', which means more frequent trips to a Vespa dealer, a real consideration if you live outside a major city where the network is thin.
Who should buy it
This suits a buyer who plans to own the scooter for several years and values the long warranty and combi-brake package over chasing the lowest sticker price.
